Manager of Sponsored Programs Office

Job Description and Requirements


  • The Sponsored Programs Office at American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) is established to support and advise the entire academic community in securing external support for sponsored projects and collaborations. It is headed by Manager of Sponsored Programs Office.
  • The Manager of Sponsored Programs Office is expected to deal with matters related to promoting scholarly and research activities at AURAK. The position holder reports directly to the Dean of School of Graduate Studies and Research.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Assisting AURAK’s faculty in identifying funding sources and writing grant proposals and writing budgets.
  • Reviewing and submission of proposals.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Disseminating research policy information through publications and other communications.
  • Developing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with governmental regulations.
  • Overseeing and advising on financial management of sponsored projects, including financial reporting, cash management, accounts receivable, effort reporting, expense reporting, and monitoring of cost-share arrangements.
  • Review, negotiate, approve, and provide administrative oversight related to proposals and establishment of awards on behalf of AURAK in accordance with all applicable policies, and regulations.
  • Addressing issues that arise during the lifecycle of a sponsored project.
  • Coordinating award close-out process.
  • Providing educational and professional development opportunities.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Dean of School of Graduate Studies and Research.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent skills in MS Office & accurate data entry and database management and record keeping.
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Able to produce reports and presentation
  • Knowledge and understanding of sponsored programs office concepts, practices, systems and procedures 
  • Experience in working with related computer applications (Oracle, SAP, or relevant software’s)

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • The ideal candidate is preferred to have a master degree with excellent command of English and Arabic languages and proven capability of obtaining external and internal grants.
  • The ideal candidate is preferred to have more than 3 years of work experience and held similar position in previous institutions.
