Finance Director

Job Description and Requirements

Supervise the preparation of the financial statements Oversee the financial reporting requirements in compliance with IAS and IFRS

·         Manage the university financial risks and strategic planning and feasibility studies

·         Support the University planning process and performance reviews through development of appropriate financial management reports and analysis

·         Lead and mentor a team of finance and accounts with focus on commercial achievement to meet the corporate requirements.

·         Properly manage the university Cash flow

·         Implement a robust budgeting process and monitor expenditure

·         Manage the accounting functions (Revenue, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Treasury, Assets, Payroll, etc.)

·         Provide timely monthly financial reports and analysis to upper management in support of decision making process

·         Part take in the decision making processes related to administrative/financial and campus activities.

·         Foster effective working relationship with auditors (internal and external) to ensure that all recommendations and findings identified are acted upon promptly

·         Ensure maintenance of strong working relationship with banks and all business partners.

·         Provide and deliver monthly management accounts and ensure that they represent the actual financial position of the colleges and departments

·         Monitor the deployment and adherence to policies, systems and processes

·         Lead, coach and guide subordinates by providing them with technical guidance, training and the required growth opportunities to ensure that subordinates are developed for higher-level roles

·         Review and develop appropriate Finance policies and procedures taking account of compliance and risk management requirements as well as best practice processes

·         Ensure appropriate financial controls and systems are in place

·         Undertake improvement projects to support enhancements in the efficiency and effectiveness of the Finance department

·         Structure and direct the workflow of staff. Review and perform performance of Finance Staff

Required Knowledge and Skills

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

·         Knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, IAS

·         Strong Accounting background and In depth knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control Accounting and Internal controls

·         Working knowledge of ERP

·         Knowledge of developing financial controls, policies and systems, budgeting and financial reporting, financial modeling and cash forecasting.

·         Strong leadership, decision making and managerial skills

·         Excellent communication and problem solving skills.

·         Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy

·         Must demonstrate strong work ethics and integrity

Verbal communication/ Language skills

·         English / Arabic / Other Language is a plus

Written communication skills

·          English / Arabic / Other language is a plus

IT skills

·         Knowledge in Accounting Software amd ERP application

·          Expert in the use of Microsoft Office Suite

Required Qualifications & Experience

Applicant must be bilingual; that is he must be completely fluent in both Arabic & English. Applicants that do not fit these criteria will not be considered.

·         First Degree in Finance or Accounting from a top tier University and an accounting Certification CA/CPA/CMA/CGA/ACCA.

·         Master’s Degree in Financial Management & Accounting is a plus

·         Knowledge and expertise in handling Accounting software.

·         Experience in managing a Finance function. Experience in the higher education sector is preferable but not necessary.

·         5 to 10 Years of experience, with at least three of those years in a director position.
