Structural Engineer (Steel Structure)

Job Description and Requirements
  • *Job Summary**

The Structural Engineer will be part of AECOMs Buildings & Places discipline and will be responsible for designing mainly steel structures and take responsibility for coordinating multidisciplinary design work on a number of projects across the Buildings division. As a member of the team, it is expected that the Structural engineer will take responsibility with the project lead for ensuring that all design work is produced in accordance with the project quality requirements, codes and safety requirements. 

Job Duties: 

Project Delivery: 

+ To be able to design complex steel structures either standalone steel structure or supported on other building material like concrete. 

+ To have a reasonable capability to design structures using different materials like concrete structure. 

+ To have excellent knowledge of engineering software like Robot, SAP, ETABS, SAFE, STAAD. Etc 

+ To have experience with dealing with BIM technology and Navisworks. 

+ Excellent team work player and can work under work pressure. 

+ Obtain Local Authority approvals. 

+ Manage large structural design projects and be able to coordinate with services 

+ Manage design according to local rules, regulations and design guidelines. 

+ Manage design to International design standards as required by the project. 

+ Be responsible for checking the designs conform to project brief and the accuracy of the work. 

Compliance: 

+ Implementation and ensure compliance with AECOM policies, systems and procedures on all structural engineering projects 

+ Implementation and ensure compliance with AECOM Ethics & Compliance policies and procedures on all buildings projects.

  • *Minimum Requirements**

+ Minimum 6 to 7 years, of relevant steel industry experience with similar type of Projects and people management experience.

  • *Preferred Qualifications**

+ Bachelor/ Masters degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering is required. 

+ Specific Skills Required (Hiring manager completion required, mandatory) 

+ It is desirable for the candidate be a chartered engineer, preferably MIStructE or similar. 

+ Middle East experience is desirable but not essential.
