Job Description and Requirements

The role 

Facilities Engineer 

The facilities management engineer will be responsible for implementing the operational service delivery plans for MEP services, to ensure a safe, high quality, efficient, and reliable environment is provided and maintained for all users (client employees, visitors, contractors, service providers and facilities management staff). 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Promoting a positive quality, health, safety and environment (QHSE) compliance driven culture always, including application of permit to work, LOTO, risk assessment and method statement processes.
  • Implementing and maintaining technical/ operational standards and quality assurance processes for the services being managed.
  • Reviewing maintenance strategies (PPM and reactive) that will ensure the facility is maintained and operated to optimum efficiency.
  • Implementing operational service delivery plans for MEP services, managing execution, and measuring results, undertaken in conjunction with associated operational management system delivery plans, including but not limited to, health and safety, quality, asset management, material catalogue, finance process and customer relations.
  • Managing and monitor facilities management contractor performance for PPM and reactive works against SLA's and KPI's.
  • Developing consistently the customer experience and understanding of client requirements by building and developing stakeholder relationships.
  • Ensuring full adherence to Macro’s company policies and procedures always.
  • Participating in local business continuity planning, emergency planning, and evacuation drills.
  • Overseeing the coordination, planning and actions to MEP technical service delivery.
  • Preparing works specifications and tender or quotation documents, in liaison with the commercial team.
  • Ensuring change management and control is enforced, and standards and procedures are adhered to.
  • Implementing continuous improvement initiatives, managing execution and measuring results.
  • Identifying and deploy innovative ways in which technology can be used to continually improve services to the client and end users.
  • Flexibility, including deployment on other projects, and tasks, within skill-set, as required.
  • Inspecting and monitoring contractor quality control programme.
  • Preparing client monthly report, review and interrogate contractor monthly reports.
  • Auditing of stock materials monthly.
  • Updating asset capture database.
  • Providing and auditing annual equipment condition reports.
  • Managing the update of CAFM as changes occur.
  • Participating in capital improvement projects.
  • Organising and participating in meetings with service providers on regular basis.
  • Managing the time keeping, task focus, attention to detail and motivation, to achieve and exceed objectives.

The requirements 

Your experience, knowledge and skills need to include:

  • Previous management experience within facilities management.
  • Experience working in an international business environment is an advantage.
  • Proactive performance management of supply chain and all stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to manage and resolve issues and actions in MEP speciality field and other areas of Macro facilities management project responsibilities as required.
  • Specialist knowledge of MEP systems installed at the facility - mechanical, electrical or ELV.
  • Understanding of the facilities management service provider contracts and Macro role and responsibilities.
  • Good commercial acumen.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Excellent auditing and reporting skills - report writing skills.
  • Organisation and planning skills.
  • Ability to lead and be decisive.
  • Ability to delegate, prioritise and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all service providers, colleagues and client.
  • Established network within facilities management industry is desirable.


  • A degree qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering is preferred.
  • A health and safety qualification i.e. NEBOSH or IOSH is an advantage.
  • Member of CIBSE, BIFM, RICS, MEFMA, IFMA or other recognised professional institution.
