Job Description and Requirements

The role 

Planning Manager - Aviation 

To work on a significant airport expansion programme, where Mace have now been involved for over 10 years.

Reporting to the project director, managing our complete planning management deliverables for the project. 

Responsible for the development of the schedule and subsequent management of consultants and contractors. 

Responsible for the planning/scheduling support on aviation project based in Qatar. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the development and delivery of the final set up plans.
  • Supervising the sequencing and scheduling of works across multiple projects in a program.
  • Establishing and maintaining schedule baselines and ensure project control mechanisms are in place to monitor performance.
  • Working closely with the client, sub consultants and main contractors.
  • Reviewing the overall project status with the project management team and recommend corrective action where necessary.
  • Demonstrating a clear, systematic approach to solving complex issues and are able to communicate solutions in an effective, efficient, high level manner.
  • Analysing and reporting on all scheduling, cost and change controls for this scheme in conjunction with the client.

The successful applicant will need to have experience in coordinating and managing multiple stakeholders and demonstrate the ability to build robust, long term relationships and integrated teams. 

The requirements 

Your experience, knowledge and skills need to include:

  • Experience in aviation/airport projects is a must, either infrastructure or terminal buildings.
  • Expertise in delivering projects at airports.
  • Strong understanding of airport construction practices, processes, standards, and their impact on project activities.
  • Excellent client facing communication skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • International project delivery experience is preferred.
  • Strong relationships with the key stakeholders both within and outside the project.
  • Ability to operate successfully in sensitive environments.
  • Strong knowledge in quality management principles and processes.
  • Flexibility to travel or operate in multiple regions is an advantage.


  • A degree qualifications is preferred but is not essential.
  • Professional memberships are an advantage but are not essential.
