Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a

Designer/Drafter for an anticipated position supporting a construction effort in the country of Qatar. The selected candidate will coordinate design development with other designers, engineering staff and customers. Develop civil, structural,

mechanical designs in accordance with requirements documents. Prepare CAD drawings and illustrations in accordance with customer format requirements and drawing standards.

The work location for this position is on the Al Udeid Air Base (AUAB) in Qatar.

  • May visit job sites and make preliminary layouts to check critical design problems, and/or to re-check problem areas.

  • Provide drawings that incorporate drafting manual standards and procedures, architectural standards, and other national standards as required.

  • Check complex drawings for technical accuracy, errors and completeness.

  • Conduct design review of technical documentation and drawings against performance specifications for technical compliance.

  • Reviews technical documentation and drawings against as-built equipment for technical accuracy and completeness.

  • Apply knowledge of procedures and systems to a broad range of basic issues. May require knowledge of specialized processes or technical skills.

  • Maintain files and back-up disks. Run prints for the department.

  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills.

Additional Information:

  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test and be capable and willing to submit and pass random fitness for duty screening particularly for drugs and alcohol.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidate must have vocational/technical training beyond high school with three (3+) years of job-related experience or equivalent in AutoCAD/Auto CAD Civil 3D 2012/GIS.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD 2012 or later.

  • Must have experience in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Visual Basic, and building information modeling software

  • Must have experience working with architectural, civil, mechanical, and electrical designs, must be knowledgeable of engineering tables, plans, and specifications, and must have working knowledge of computer networks.

  • The CAD draftsperson must have basic understanding of ESRI® software products.

  • Candidate must be capable of creating or updating space usage information contained in S-Files.

  • Must have an active or interim Secret Clearance and be able to maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

  • Due to nature of the work, candidate must be a US Citizen.
