Outreach Field Assistant / The Position is Subject to Funding

Job Description and Requirements

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:  Responsible for the first contact with and registration of potential beneficiaries. Responsibilities also include supporting the assistance of vulnerable refugees and asylum-seeker to meet their most urgent needs, and gain access to available services. The Outreach Field Assistant will assist the Field Manager in all project activities to ensure the successful implementation of ICMC activities at the field level.

Specific Objectives:

  1. Support the identification of project beneficiaries through outreach activities:
    1. Conduct home visits to vulnerable Jordanians and Syrian refugees in urban and rural areas, with the use ICMC’s Initial Household Registration Form;
    2. Highlight special or urgent needs of households and inform the Field Manager  about cases who require special attention;
  1. Provide information to vulnerable Syrian and Jordanian households about the services available in the area
    1. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of both ICMC services and procedures, as well as those of relevant service providers in the region of operation.
    2. Disseminate information during home visits and through ICMC reception, through the distribution of information materials and verbal communication;
    3. Facilitate information sessions on tenants and landlords’ rights before rent distributions;
  1. Support the organization of distributions
    1. Assist the caseworkers and Field Manager in the preparation of distributions, including preparing casefiles, filing, calling beneficiaries;
    2. During the distributions, assist in greeting beneficiaries, making photocopies, and any other tasks required by the supervisor, as needed;
       
  2. Administrative Duties
    1. Ensure that detailed outreach case files are prepared and filed in hard copies for all interviews conducted;
    2. Assist with various administrative duties, as required by the supervisor
  1. Communication and Coordination:
    1. Establish good and regular communication with project beneficiaries (including the provision of accurate and relevant information)
    2. Establish good communication and coordination with all ICMC departments and project staff.
  1. Others
    1. Participate in trainings as necessary     
    2. Uphold the ICMC Code of Conduct and ICMC’s policies on the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse;
    3. Ensure the respect of the core humanitarian principles: neutrality, impartiality, independence and humanity.
    4. Respect the “do no harm” principle of humanitarian action.

Required Qualifications and competencies:

  • University degree in Social Work or related experience working in the NGO sector an asset;
  • Experience in conducting assessments and interviews a strong asset;
  • Experience in working with marginalized populations an asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with variety of people, and express oneself in a clear and concise way;
  • Excellent Arabic spoken and written language skills 
  • Working level of English is a valuable asset.
  • Excellent command of MS Office and other computer programs, including good typing skills
  • Excellent team working skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment and under pressure
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work outside of the office, in the North of Jordan's often tough weather conditions.
