Information Management Officer

Job Description and Requirements

Position:  Information Management Officer (Global Resource Information Team)
Location:  Amman based with travel to other locations in the Middle East and other regions.
Reports to:  GRIT Coordinator

Summary:  Your role would be to support Medair’s information management processes at regional global level. You will be expected to use your IM experience and technical capabilities to build on and improve data management processes for a variety of sectors, including health, WASH, Shelter and M&E activities.  On a day-to-day basis you would be involved in a wide variety of activities involving capacity building, dashboard analytics, data collection design, monitoring and evaluation. 

Data Analysis, Visualization, and M&E Reporting

  • Analyse data to produce relevant indicators 
  • Responsible for monitoring and evaluation reporting from database
  • Using QLIK, mapping and other relevant software to produce information visuals 
  • Produce automated reports for external audiences
  •  Ensure knowledge retention by providing comments and accompanying documentation for all dashboards and coding

Data Protection and Automated Reporting

  • Suggest and implement improvements to current systems.
  • Creation of high quality ODK forms.
  • Be responsible for accuracy and reliability of reporting data
  • Thorough testing of the all new and updated reports prior to publication.
  • Implementing beneficiary data protection protocols

Computer Programming & Tech Development

  • Contribute to the development of new products and processes
  • Test, evaluate, and implement new technologies as necessary
  • Developing open source data export software

NGO capacity building 

  • Contributing to the NGO community through data analytics workshops with other NGOs and country programs.
  • Network and maintain good working relationships with key humanitarian actors in the IM sector.
  • Working with external organisations on key projects 
  • Prepared to travel outside of Jordan for up to 20% of the role

Communication & Training

  • Regular team communication and contribution
  • Organising, planning and implementing training events on areas of IM policy which are relevant to the sector teams including data security.

Quality Management

  • Follow appropriate IM standards and integrate lessons learned into the projects
  • Ensure that all work is published through a formal approval process
  • Rollout a formal approval process and ensure that all dashboards are published within the expected time frame following the sharing of the final draft version

Role Qualifications:

We need

  • Vocational qualification

Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject or equivalent professional / technical qualification
University degree in Computer Programming, Database Management, Systems & Computing

  • Work experience

Relevant professional experience working in an IM role with an international NGO (1-2 years)
Experience with analytics, mapping, and data collection technology.
Previous NGO experience (2+ yrs)
Experience in computer programming

  • Languages

Good English (spoken and written)
Excellent Arabic (spoken and written)
Willingness to improve language skills, spoken and written

  • IT

Strong computer skills with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Problem solving ability.
Aptitude, willingness and ability to learn programming, data analysis and data management packages that are not familiar
Good knowledge of ODK and at least one BI or data visualisation tool

Experience of IT troubleshooting
Experience working with additional data collection softwares
Advanced computer programming skills
Advanced data analytics(i.e., SQL, Qlik, etc)
Server management experience

Training on LogFrames, Budgets and Proposal writing
Training on project management best practice-
