Job Title: Medical Senior Officer

Report to: Medical Coordinator for Azraq Camp  

Location:  Azraq Camp

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

Scope of Work:

  • To undertake professional duties under direction of health Coordinator.
  • To contribute to the overall management of the hospital, in collaboration with medical, nursing and administrative staff.
  • To ensure all documentation, including patient files, meets local medico- legal requirements and that statistical data is collated, using the health information monitoring system, and to incorporate information in regular reports.
  • To conduct daily morning rounds in hospital wards and review patients’ folder admitted in ER, paediatric and maternity.
  • To be an active member of Infection Control Committee.
  • To monitor the rationalisation of prescription. Revise and report misuses of drugs in the hospital.
  • To lead on the implementation of the validated therapeutic protocols and enforcement of medical doctor adherence to standardized prescription (in ER and paediatric ward).
  • To prepare the medical doctors staff shift schedule and annual leaves plans. To follow and report the staff attendance and any expected overtime.
  • To compile a monthly narrative report from each supervisor in hospital fully describing the activities and challenges.
  • To work according to the Ministry of Health / WHO guidelines and treatment protocols and ensure that national standards are maintained.
  • To liaise with local health authorities and other health facilities and coordinate activities with other international / UN and medical NGOs.
  • To provide professional services as a doctor when needed and/or requested.
  • To monitor the local health situation and adjust the activities of the hospital if required.
  • To arrange capacity building and training for the medical staff and participate as needed.
  • To prepare and update the Emergency Plan for the hospital in collaboration with the Hospital Management team.
  • To ensure that universal precautions including infection control are adhered to.
  • Actively work towards the achievement of the IMC goals
  • Abide by and work in accordance with the IMC principles
  • Perform any other work related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager


  • Bachelor Degree in Medicine
  • License to practice from MoH
  • Min experience of 3 years
