Technical Shelter Assistant -WFP -Azraq Camp

Job Description and Requirements

Roles and Responsibilities:

The main role of the technical shelter assistant is to provide beneficiaries with the needed support in all matters related to food distributions.

Generic responsibilities:

  • Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
  • Assist a range of support with the implementation of the Core Competency portfolio according to plan of action.
  • Implements independently procedures and activities within own function or core competency as delegated.
  • Responsible for organizing and delivery of tasks in line with priorities and standards.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the specialist area of work in which technical assistance and support is being provided, in order to be most effective in supporting the team.
  • Use initiative in day to day problem solving in line with agreed procedures, priorities and standards for the area of work.
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
  • Ensure proper filing of documents.
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement in your area of expertise.
  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards & principles within NRC and amongst beneficiaries served by NRC.

    Specific responsibilities

  • Daily running of a help desk, where the TA is responsible for communicating with the people of concern and the communities on critical information related to the food assistance modalities, eligibility criteria and timeframe of assistance, as well as referring cases for New Arrival Vouchers (NAVs) and e-vouchers to WFP.
  • Logging beneficiaries, complaints and inquiries using WFP reporting systems.
  • Inform relevant beneficiaries that the e-cards are available for collection in the camps distribution centers
  • Responsible for alternative collectors referrals to designated agencies and sharing with WFP an updated list of alternate assistance collectors for special cases.
  • Collect e-cards for beneficiaries who returned to Syria from SRAD and UNHCR and deliver them back to WFP on a monthly basis.
  • Distribute New Arrivals Vouchers (NAVs) to cases approved by WFP and returning all nondistributed NAVs to WFP on a monthly basis.
  • Disseminate information (leaflets, mass SMS) upon request by line manager.
  • Support in Data collection linked to WFP activities (baseline and end line survey, postdistribution monitoring exercises, focus group discussions, key informant interviews, qualitative data collection, project impact and evaluation surveys where relevant, price monitoring exercises).
  • Attend regular camp resident meetings.

Our Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a candidate with a College/diploma degree equivalent, 2 years of experience, Knowledge of procedures on stock management and warehousing. Ability to understand and implement organisational and donor policies.

 Ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload in a rapidly changing work environment. Excellent attention to detail.

Salary/benefits: 842 JOD (subject to social security and Income tax)

Duty station: Azraq Camp
