Senior Systems Engineer - Backup

Job Description and Requirements

Role Summary:
This role is responsible for representing “Data Logica IT Services” to the customer at multiple levels, guiding and managing projects from design,install,implement and configure Backup technology for the product that company support. This role is key in the customer experience and implementation of our current service models.

Essential Responsibilities:
Ensures customer satisfaction.

Provide technical leadership on a wide range of Data Protection solutions IT strategy development and solution design, IT, compliance, and business process assessments, organizational analysis and design, business process re-design, and client training

• Recommend Consulting IT solutions and lead implementation

• May perform client management, project management, team management, and financial     management responsibilities

• Audit service delivery for compliance with vendor process and quality standards

• Have in-depth knowledge and experience with one or more Veritas products or technologies

• Is product and/or discipline certified.

• Identify additional sales opportunities resulting from engagement work

• Identify and contribute to the development of value-added, strategic solutions for vendor products

• Leads the development of new service offerings within area of expertise.

• Interfaces with product development teams to share client feedback, generate requirements and evaluate and test new product solutions

• Participate in pre-sales activities to develop and close opportunities.  Function as a technical subject matter expert for pre-sales activities.

Skills and Knowledge Requirement:

•             Strong customer communications skills, written, oral and face-to-face

•             Strong presentation skills, to a large audience or in one to one meetings.

•             Experience working in high-pressure client-environments with aggressive deadlines

•             Demonstrate strong understanding of principles policies, and industry best practices in area of expertise

•             Knowledge of Microsoft (competence with Microsoft Project, Excel and Word expected) and at least one UNIX operating system (Solaris, AIX, HPUX, LINUX)

•             Understanding of backup/recovery, storage resource management, disaster recovery; archiving

•             Understanding of virtualization (server, storage application, network)

•             Knowledge & experience in any other VERITAS relevant technologies (lower priority) 

•             working knowledge of VERITAS products   (lower priority) 



• Bachelor's Degree

• Approx. 10  years of experience in IT solution implementation within a consulting environment;

• Experience in dealing with networking and system operations and/or administration.

Experience with general data center security products (Veritas and other vendors)

• Able to work independently and run projects

• Excellent communication and presentation skills

• Willingness to learn and adapt in dynamic environments.

• Team player and good troubleshooting skills

• Good inter-personal and communication (verbal/written/presentation) skills desired.
