System Engineer - Rail System

* Work in cooperation with the offshore business unit for all technical activities during the Bid phase of the project.
* Plan, control and coordinate all local on-shore technical activities for the bid acting as on-shore work package manager for the telecommunication scope.
* Ensure that requirements management and their allocation to the respective subsystems/components are maintained.
* Plan and oversee configuration management activities during the Bid & project ensuring solution integrity with the Configuration Manager.
* Ensure coordination and communication with the design lead for the technical solution and ensure a smooth transition of responsibility from bid to engineering then through to Installation and Commissioning.
* Be the main technical interface for the localised customer and supplier organisations.
* Participate in Bid/Project Meetings both internal and external: with the Customer, Thales subcontractors and other entities when scheduled and/or requested.
* Prepare & define workload requirements for engineering efforts related to the implementation of the design & engineering.

HSE RESPONSIBILITIES 

* Take care of your own safety and the safety of others as far as is practicable.
* To be aware of, and play an active role in the development and implementation of the HSE Management System, project HSE requirements and Policy Statements.
* Understanding your personal responsibilities and contribute to achieving compliance with the HSE Management System requirements, understand the potential consequences of non-compliance to the HSE arrangements and commits to stated policies above;
* Comply with local laws and legislation regarding HSE.
* To use safety equipment (including PPE) as required and intended and observe that this is also enforced within their departments and among subcontractors and third parties working in client's controlled premises/systems.
* Do not interfere with or change, adjust anything that is provided for safety unless fully trained to do so.
* Promote a good HSE culture within their departments and among their peers, subcontractors and third parties;
* Lead by example and actively encourage their departments to look at ways to conserve energy, water and resources and minimize the generation of waste through personal performance and raise recommendations on how to improve existing processes on this regard within/outside their departments.
* Conduct regular reviews on the HSE Management System Performance within their areas of responsibility and seek ways of continual improvement.
* Every one within client has the right to stop work if they believe that their activities may affect the health and safety or that of others. In this circumstance such conditions must be reported immediately to their line manager and the HSE department.

QUALIFICATION, CERTIFICATION & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS 

* Degree in Telecommunications or Electronic Engineering or equivalent in experience.
* Fluent in written & spoken English.


PREFERRED SKILLS 

* Proven experience in coordinating teams of system engineers and sw/hw engineers in multi-cultural context.
* Working Knowledge of German and/or French preferred.
* Strong team work with proactive approach and excellent communication, coordination and presentation skills.
* Ability to travel.
* Knowledge and experience in the design and implementation of: communication Systems such as IP Networking, Network Security, GSM-R, Wi-Fi, TETRA.
* Security Systems - CCTV, Access Control Systems, Intrusion Detection Systems, Digital Video and Voice Recording
* Integrated Supervision and Control Systems - SCADA, Environmental Control Systems, Information. Systems and relevant communication protocols.
* Windows client-server/cluster architecture and Linux OS.
* knowledge of Rail Signalling Systems and relevant communication protocols an advantage
