Tax Manager

Position Summary

Reporting to directly to the CFO in Amman and indirectly to the Group Head of Tax in Dubai.  The Tax manager is responsible for ensuring all domestic and overseas entities meet their tax obligations and objectives in line with the Group’s tax strategy.  Advise senior management on potential tax issues that impact the current and future operations.

Essential Job Functions

  • Manage the corporate income tax and VAT/GST filings for the domestic and overseas entities whilst ensuring maximum utilization tax attributes and deductions.
  • Oversee the tax provision process and reporting of Taxes, including uncertain tax positions and financial statement disclosures.
  • Manage tax audits, including evaluation of settlement options
  • Support the Group Head of Tax on M&A, tax due diligence and other cross-border operational and financial planning opportunities.
  • Work with local and overseas Controllers to monitor the global tax filing and payment deadlines, tax audits, tax risks and transfer pricing documentation compliance and report regular status updates to Group.
  • Manage foreign income tax compliance within various overseas jurisdictions.
  • Perform internal health checks on VAT/GST tax compliance and advise risk mitigation strategies.
  • Build, manage and maintain a tax risk register, advise on appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
  • Transfer pricing/BEPS compliance: support Group on CBCR filing, ensure adequate transfer pricing documentation is maintained, coordinating with external prepares and/or preparing in-house
  • Support affiliates on Expatriate taxes as mobile employees relocate, coordinate tax filings and secondment agreements
  • Advise on GST, VAT, sales taxes
  • Ensure compliance with ad-hoc tax reporting requirements e.g. FATCA, CRS, FBAR, DAC6
  • Some foreign travel required

Essential Job Requirements

  • Degree in Accountancy/ Professional accounting or tax qualification e.g. CPA/ ACCA/ CTA etc.
  • Background or past experience with a public accounting firm (Big 4 preferred) and/ or MNC
  • +5 years’ corporate income tax and VAT experience, along with international tax laws and handling local and foreign tax audits is advantageous
  • Strong background in accounting for income taxes, including accounting for uncertain tax positions
  • Experience of managing transfer pricing matters and formalizing transfer pricing documentation
  • Ability to research, analyze, and understand complex issues
  • Excellent project management, time management and follow-through skills
