| Job Description | POSITION OVERVIEW: Supervise 1-4 proposals and 1-3 projects depending on the size of proposal/project and ensure quality and technical excellence for jobs under supervision. Provide leadership and boost morale in the Piping Team members (direct reports). Identify strengths and weaknesses of Piping Team members and recommend training and development intervention, planning and career opportunities. Provide key managerial and administrative support for Piping Department and assist in activities related to manpower resources, organisation development, preparation of new standards and procedures, etc., for Piping. Assume responsibility for conceptual and detailed design in compliance with the project specifications, international codes and standards and good engineering practices. Take measures for maintaining quality of engineering, completion of projects within the budgeted man-hours and cost and adhering to the project schedule. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: •Facilitate and co-ordinate manpower recruitment process in collaboration with HR. •Conduct regular technical interviews for potential new hires. •Provide necessary guidance on planning of all engineering activities and mobilize manpower resources associated with proposals/projects under responsibility. •Ensure manpower resources of Piping Team are adequate and are utilised efficiently. •Establish performance criteria, agree performance objectives with Piping Team and develop competency of Team members. Set performance benchmarks, KPIs and conduct regular performance appraisals, mentor and guide piping team. •Organise internal quality audits/peer reviews for monitoring quality and ensure timely close-out of actions. •Technical Assurance: provide advice and guidance to engineers and designers on important technical issues as well as on managerial matters. •Provide necessary support and guidance to Project Control, Construction and Commissioning. •Participate in Contract Review process and provide required guidance to Lead Engineer. •Perform responsibilities of Lead Engineer in event of large project. •Develop Piping-specific Company Standards, design guidelines and work procedures. •Engage with Quality Assurance for quality issues. Ensure strict compliance with Company’s Quality procedures. •Encourage design improvement and technical excellence in consultation with the Technical Specialists. •Participate in key Design Review meetings, e.g. Plot Plan review, 3D Model review, etc. •Interface with other Discipline Managers for coordination issues. •Coordinate with other offshore engineering centres and maintain good working relations, adherence to the Company procedures/standards and achievement of Company goals. PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Minimum requirements: •Bachelors Degree in mechanical Engineering •Minimum of 20 years of related offshore Concept, FEED and detailed engineering experience preferabley from a background in working for engineering consultancy organisations in the EPC or the Oil and Gas Industry SKILLS/COMPETENCIES SUMMARY: Technical •Demonstrates overall supervision and administrative oversight of personnel including engineers, designers (if relevant) and technical specialists. •Coordinates to achieve productive relationship with the offshore engineering centres within the organisation - e.g.in India, UK and Malaysia •Provides necessary guidance on manpower planning and takes responsibility for recruitment and performance management of his/her team. •Provides technical expertise and support during various phases of the project design and execution. •Demonstrates experience and expertise with various engineering deliverables and procurement engineering and is aware of commercial, contractual and administrative aspects of the department’s scope of work. •Assists in the planning and management of departmental/team objectives, KPIs, budget and resource requirements. •Promotes innovation, departmental improvement and team working for continuous improvement of knowledge base, cost-consciousness, and Quality and Safety Procedures. •Ensures and facilitates an awareness of HSSE in all design activities across the discipline. •Promotes Quality Control throughout their team, ensuring that their team works within the Quality Management System and participates in regular quality audits. •Analyses exposure to risk and quantifies potential for losses, applying logical solutions for managing the risks taken through composition and implementation of contingency plans. •Familiar with Microsoft Office applications as required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) •Thorough knowledge of international codes and standards. |
