Job Description and Requirements
International Relief & Development, (IRD) is a non-profit organization specializing in international development and humanitarian assistance in over 40 countries. IRD has been working in Jordan since 2006 and is currently recruiting an Internship & Job Placement Officer for its US Department of State, Bureau of Population, Refugee and Migration funded Community Based Support Program. This Project runs until August 31, 2012.
IRD is requesting CV’s from individuals with the listed requisite experience for the Internship & Job Placement Officer in IRD Jordan’s Amman Office (Please note, this is not an expatriate position).
The Internship & Job Placement Officer will report directly to the Program Director of the CBSP project, and will be responsible for the following:
- Assisting the Project Director in providing leadership and oversight to the project planning. Representing the project as appropriate in workshops, meetings and public forums when necessary.
- Establishing a network of businesses and private employers that are ready to provide employment or internship opportunities to the program beneficiaries.
- Developing a database of the partnering businesses with contact information and profiles.
- Negotiating internship agreements at the start of the posting.
- Working with the Liaison Officer to ensure that successful interns are processed in a timely manner for work permits.
- Monitoring and reporting on the field activities within the Project Framework, and evaluating beneficiaries’ performance, especially in marketing related activities.
- Visiting and evaluating, on a regular basis, the work of the local businesses partnering with the project.
- Collecting data and providing analysis of the needs of the beneficiaries involved in the program in relation to employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
- Collecting and evaluating results of the ongoing project activities and trainings. Creating a database and establishing a filing system that allows for proper keeping of files and project related documents.
- Preparation of all statistics for the quarterly, annual and final reports.
- Helping to raise knowledge of beneficiaries in potential job market.
- Ensuring effective implementation of the Project Work Plan to guarantee that project activities are carried out in the target area according to the project’s agreement requirements.
- Assisting in administrative duties with all related reports and project documentation and information.
- Other duties as assigned by Program Director
Experience Requirement:
At least 5 years’ experience with a minimum 3 years of experience working with an International Non–Governmental Organization in Jordan • Experience working with refugees or disadvantaged populations is preferred • Knowledge of the local labor market.

Organization skills and time management • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills both Arabic and English • Monitoring and Evaluation • Excellent interpersonal skills including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and respect for colleagues and outside contacts • A cross-cultural experience, understanding and sensitivity • Computer literate with high degree of proficiency and productivity • Able to work comfortably and effectively with or without supervision, either at own initiative or under direction • Ability to manage a team • Ability to travel to the field as necessary.
