Job Description and Requirements
Duties and responsibilities:
- Assists in developing and maintaining close communication with the stakeholders as well as with groups and organizations that support the achievement of EMPHNET’s advocacy and communication objectives and activities;
- Provides day-to-day assistance in handling public relations including organizing events, interviews, and development and dissemination of information to the media or stakeholders;
- Assists in the production of advocacy and communication materials as needed for successful publication of EMPHNET’s materials (newsletters, brochures, Reports, fact sheets, profiles, posters, and briefing papers);
- Oversees the qualitative aspects of publications production (quality control, translations, reviews of layout and graphic design);
- Assists in drafting and editing articles, press releases, feature stories and other advocacy and information materials for both web-based and traditional media;
- Upload materials to the website including materials related to public information activities, workshops, and local trainings;
- Updates FETPs programs and other stockholders with the latest publications, news and other materials;
- Helps organize support for special events and activities of EMPHNET. Follows up post training activities mainly focusing on training evaluation, trainee evaluation post trainings.
- Develops and maintain a database of project international and local experts as well as database of projects, alumni, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required knowledge, abilities and experience:
- University degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or equivalent professional work experience in the field of communication combined with a university degree in a related field.
- Three years of practical professional work experience in communication, and/or print and broadcast media.
- Ability to research, analyze, evaluate and synthesize information.
- General ability to draft clearly and concisely ideas and concepts in written and oral form; specific skills in writing press releases and articles/stories for print and electronic media.
- Experience with international agencies is preferable.
- Experience with health agencies is preferable.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility to work altered and non-traditional work schedules necessary to meet the deadlines of the cooperation.
- Experience with technical assistance projects is preferable.
- Strong computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint).
